You hear about people getting burned out from various activities in their life. You can get burned out from a job, a relationship, or any situation in your life. But what about writer’s burnout? I have explored the idea of a writer getting burned out from writing every day. Here is what I have discovered.
- If you do any activity for too long a time, you risk getting burned out. Writing is no different.
- Because writing is a creative activity, there is even more of a chance that you may need to take regular breaks from your writing. You need to rejuvenate and refresh your thinking process.
- By taking time off, whether it is for just a few hours or for a day or more, your writing will be noticeably improved when you begin writing again. We are not sure why this is true.
- When you stop writing due to burnout, try reading instead. The act of reading materials you enjoy will get your brain going again and you will feel refreshed. Always keep some reading material handy so you will be ready to switch gears at any time.
- Make a writing schedule for yourself and allow for several breaks throughout the period of time you write. You may want to go for a walk, do some work around the house, or run some errands. During this time you will come up with new ideas for your writing project.
Writing anything - articles, blog posts, or eBooks - takes creative energy on your part. Set yourself up for success by not allowing yourself to suffer from writer’s burnout.
